Set in the year 2200 A.D., the story unfolds in a future where human migration to space and advanced technology enable memory manipulation. Naoki and Mayumi, who live in a luxury floating residence in space, are the perfect couple that anyone would admire at first glance. Mayumi enjoys ceramics as a hobby, while Naoki is devoted to his own research. They are a peaceful, ideal couple who enjoy elegant music, cooking, and dining in the dining room. However, their true nature is the distorted love of the husband, Naoki, who seeks revenge from his wife who used to love him back in the days when he used to love her, and repeatedly turns her into an android to pursue and recreate his own ideal. This psychopathic suspense romance depicts a "form of love" that could happen anywhere in the near future.

Par H @Parhwy Mar 9 Previously Saved Version (2024) is a 118-minute-long film I watched on Prime in March 2026. Upfront, I would not rewatch nor recommend this film. Spoiler-free zone ends here. In the first 40 minutes, Naoki (husband) kills Mayumi (wife) several times in the present and in flashbacks. Sure, she’s a robot yet he… murders her. I nearly DNF (did not finish) this film, and this was my second viewing to finish it. It gets mildly interesting at 82 minutes. The final scene at the white Torii gate gave me a glimpse of what the film could have been aka good and interesting. Two of my notes while watching: "This film is long-winded, boring, pointless sci-fi with an exceptional amount of DV. The broken pottery / murdered wife metaphor is goddamn awful. Unnecessary killing scenes" and "Robo-Mayumis stage a robo-rebellion and Naoki goes rogue". CGI is ok however it’s mere backdrop. The Earth’s terminator (light/dark side) moves too fast. The curving objects is rubbish science. 3/10. See more Stephen I @RT73376555 12/04/2024 Beautifully shot. Glad I knew nothing about the plot going in. Japanese SciFi that isn’t anime. See more Lee C @LeeIsMe 11/23/2024 Good special effects. Kind of predictable. A harmless somewhat entertaining watch. See more Lukas S @RT33300630 10/03/2024 I think that the best definition for this is "not bad". Because it really is not bad. But also not good. What I liked: the general aesthetic, the ceramics that she did, the interiors design, space stuff design, use of light. The actress, so lovely and calming. The denounce of domestic violence. What I did not like: the actor, the direction, the lukewarm feeling of something which just is not enough, rather than something which is complete in its calm lack of ambition. Yeah, I don't mind lack of ambition. But this just feels lacking in general... See more Jere A @RT49816534 09/28/2024 Kinda boring, Not engaging See more Read all reviews
