05/30/2021 I am a fan of Chow Yun Fat and Jet Li movies, so rented this movie on Apple TV and watched. I was a bit disappointed though, the plot is kind of hard to follow at times. The movie did a good portrayal of the "General" in the Golden Triangle, after the Communist takeover in China in 1949, soldiers of the Koumintang escaped to Taiwan and Myanmar and Burma, and became involved in Opium and Heroin trafficking, those scenes would have been better if they had shown some Poppy fields and Plants, but the scenes in this movie only reference counterfeiting by the "General". Also, the movie made little mention of the transnational criminal groups like the Chinese Triads, maybe since it is a Hong Kong movie the producer left the Triads out in order to protect the safety of the movie producer, actors, and employees. Maybe a wise move, hard to say. Not a fan of all the smokers in the movie and scenes of smoking, smoking is a serious problem in China and Chinese communities, with countless people dying young after a lifetime of smoking, which puts a huge burden on public health systems. Governments could save billions of dollars by banning smoking entirely, billions no longer being spent on the health care of sick smokers. I am only giving this move 2 stars, I was disappointed.
