Ditected by Michael Curtiz (Casablanca), this musical marks the feature debut of Doris Day, and its best part are the songs, including the Oscar-nominated tune, It's Magic.

Audience Reviews for Romance on the High Seas

A surprise from director Michael Curtiz: a musical! The feature debut of Doris Day features many opportunities for her to wail out with the musical stylings, and she wails indeed. Another interesting, if curious, part is the casting decision to go romantic lead with Jack Carson, who usually chauffeuer's in character/comic parts. Here he even gets to sing a little himself (even if he cannot hold a candle to Day's star wattage). Overall a decent production coming from a surprising source, but the main attraction is the enchanting Day.

Ultra colorful late 40"s musical, the technicolor practically jumps off the screen. Doris' first movie and she's a total delight, bursting with energy and charisma. Beautiful Oscar winning song "It's Magic".
