Happily for everyone involved and the audience, it works. This is in no small part due to Cooper knowing her audience's expectations and limitations.
The comedian may have gone viral for "playing Trump," but here, with her biggest platform yet, she demonstrates what her comedic taste really is -- and it's somewhat surprising to learn that it's deeply weird. It's also invigorating to watch.
Well, it looks like a non-stop parade of celebrity cameos and leftover "Saturday Night Live" sketches that often feel too long. As a special that showcases Cooper's talent and actual voice, it's even less successful.
