It feels like a made for TV movie, shot on what looks like Betamax in 4:3 aspect ratio, but has a couple stars in it like Roddy McDowell and Amanda Wyss (of Better Off Dead fame). Despite it's cheap look, the wild baboon is actually quite terrifying. I am not totally convinced this movie was 100% cruelty free to the animal while filming this, or that thing is just a hellava good rage actor! There's also some really above average use of music in certain scenes, while others it sounds pretty cheesy. Overall though, the movie does manage to induce a good amount of stress while watching mostly because of the real baboon and the intensity is displays onscreen. You genuinely feel afraid for the actors. Not just the characters, but the actual actors in the scenes with that crazy animal. Is it good, well yeah, kinda! They almost certainly rented a small unoccupied suite in a low-rent office building for 100% of the sets. The lighting and camera work is fine. It looks like a nineties TV show that would be syndicated and ran on early Saturday afternoon. The one standout is the baboon. He's great. However, there's not enough of him. The worst thing about this is the pacing and lack of a story. I paused the movie when I thought I was in the final act, and saw I wasn't halfway through. The D&D inspired game is tedious.
