06/03/2011 "It's alive. IT'S ALIVE!"-Henry Frankenstein (Colin Clive) A mix of cheap Cronenberg and SHORT CIRCUIT. And what could have been a campy horror film, is instead, a dull kiddie movie. It says here his name is Tristan." - Elder Tristan has promised the unobtainable Victoria that he will retrieve a fallen star in exchange for her love. Intrigued, Victoria gives him seven days. The film is adapted from Gaiman's (Beowulf) novel of the same name. For a well-trodden myth, Stardust is amusingly dark, rich, and surprisingly clever. The director, Matthew Vaughn, has roots back to "Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels." Great to see Peter O'Toole as the dying King, Robert De Niro as the closeted Captain Shakespeare, and the lovely Michelle Pfeiffer as Lamia, a witch.
