The # doesn't stop this excruciatingly tedious and formally inept "selfie movie" from being pure visual torture. Go to Full Review

John C 10/13/2024 Starvecrow was acclaimed by the BBC as the first "Selfie" movie and was made on a shoe-string. It was given excellent reviews by pretty much every reviewer except for The Times and The Guardian.Rather than encourage the production of experimental "art" films that challenge tradition and don't have a marketing budget they decided to slag it off. How brave and clever of them. Judging from their comments I wonder if the reviewers actually watched til the end. Such a shame that small productions with no big names are treated with such disrespect by supposed film buffs. The true buffs and passionate film fans raved about Starvecrow. Here's their ratings... REVIEW SUMMARY (Out of 5) ★★★★1/2 Vulture Hound ★★★★ The Upcoming ★★★★ The Fan Carpet ★★★★ Live for Films ★★★1/2 DMovies ★★★ Filmuforia ★★★ UK Film Review ★★ Film Reviews and News Quotes/links “Starvecrow has a brain behind it, and a demented one at that” ★★★★1/2 Vulture Hound “Immerses the viewer, and masterfully convinces them of its reality by erasing all traces of fiction” ★★★★ The Upcoming “delicious psycho-thriller” ★★★★ The Fan Carpet “Innovative brilliance” ★★★★ Live for Film “The subject matter is painfully timely” “Chillingly well-executed” “The acting here is top-notch” ★★★1/2 DMovies “What makes ♯Starvecrow stand out is not the blend of technology, but the dark content: behind the candidness and their lifestyle dominated by being tech-savvy 24/7, the teenage protagonists hide withering secrets.” ★★★ Filmuforia “Takes found footage to the next level” Top 10 Films “A unique and revolutionary piece of cinema” Back to the Movies “the phone footage certainly gives the action a dizzying immediacy and verisimilitude that forces a discomfiting degree of complicity on to the viewer” Oxford Times (Parky at the Pictures) “There’s a much-needed analysis of society here and some lessons to be learned along the way” ★★★ UK Film Reviews Director James Carver has been compared to Dogma 95's Lars Von Trier.
