Marco L @decatur555 Jan 22 Still Time is an Italian tragicomedy about the constant rush of modern life and how easily time slips away while we believe everything is under control. It doesn’t try to reinvent its familiar premise, but its warmth and honesty make it engaging. The film mixes humor and sadness to reflect on burnout, work, and relationships that slowly get neglected without us noticing. While the story can feel predictable and occasionally repetitive, it has a good heart and a sincere perspective. The performances are natural and grounded, and although there are no standout set pieces, the film works through small, accumulated moments rather than dramatic impact. Still Time may not leave a lasting mark, but it’s an easy, pleasant watch that gently invites the viewer to slow down and reassess what really matters. With this plot device, Dante ascends the corporate ladder in his… well, it’s not exactly clear what his company does, but that’s probably the point and loses the woman he loves (Barbara Ronchi), distances himself from his daughter (Valentina Pastore), ailing father (Massimo Wertmüller), etc. etc. It’s actually a brilliant concept that could’ve been used to create a compelling story of anguish, but it’s never clear what Dante does during the other 364 days of the year. You’d think that some sort of recording/text/etc. would be made (the plot is approx. a decade from 2008, so the technology exists) to help explain it, but we never see anything of the sort. The message is the one we’ve all seen ten thousand times before and is so predictable while remaining so true. There really isn’t a reason to see this movie. I was filled with delight at times, others wonderment and being very touched. Great casting - doesn't hurt that the main actor is very good looking. I highly recommend this gem.
