It's technically impressive and loaded with eye-catching images, but without characters or a plot to support them, all of Sucker Punch's visual thrills are for naught. Read critic reviews

Jul 06, 2013Really not that bad...I don't get why people completely panned this film. True, the ending and beginning are pretty dark, and it can drag at times, but the action sequences are phenomenal and engrossing, even if they're incredibly strange. Worth checking out if you're a fan of Zack Snyder or action films in general. There's just something about a 12 foot tall samurai wielding a minigun that screams "AWESOME!" lol. Maybe check this out if you're feeling it...just don't expect another 300 or Sin City.Stephen S Super Reviewer

Nov 15, 2012At first I thought this wouldn't be a bad film. Hot girls in skimpy outfits carrying heavy artillary, a comic book feel, awesome images, but unfortunetly the filmmakers were pretty much left clueless in it's use of character and plot. Sadly the characters is pretty much seen as exploited since their main purpose is to look sexy in a war fight. Everything else doesn't matter because the plot bares no interest to whatsoever, Emily Browning keeps going into her fantasy/dance routines even though I didn't really see her dance. The action is impressively shot but I got quickly bored and I noticed these girls hardly get hit or take a fair beating, and if they so, these hot ladies hardly looked like they broke a nail. The only good thing is the cast I guess. My fav charcter in the picture would have to be from Emily Browning (she was much better in Sleeping Beauty) Browning doesn't have much to work with but she makes up for it in her appearance and also cast is Abbie Cornish, Jenna Malone, Jamie Chung, Vanessa Hudgens, and Carla Gugino. The filmmaker Zach Synder mentioned that he wasn't aiming to make a video game like film. Well after watching "Sucker Punch" it pretty much felt like the latter in the worst way possible...Video games are suppose to be fun...it is not fun just sitting there watching a video game like movie on screen as a curious spectator. So in a way, the Critique sure got Sucker punched. I saw the extended cut and the only scene they should have left in the original was the burlesque dance sequences. Everything else really doesn't matter.Brian R Super Reviewer

Jul 18, 2012 "From an original idea by Zack Snyder". Merely saying that Sucker Punch is entirely unworthy of the above statement, even being connected in the same sentence with it, is doing it a favor that it does not deserve in the slightest. It's just a gigantic mess literally, on an epic scale, and that's an understatement. It's essentialy a rip off of every action movie you've ever seen, there's numerous segments from Lord Of The Rings, scenes that looks like they were taken from Star Wars, others like they were stolen from Shutter Island and even some ripped off Kill Bill and The Three Musketeers. Sucker Punch essentialy has everything you could possibly discover within the action genre, and so naturally it is completely incomprehensible and surprisingly groan inducingly boring. It's quite extraordinary how a film that's throwing everything at you is as dull as Sucker Punch. Snyder is a director who understands visuals and costumes, and nothing else at all, in other words, this looks so good it looks hideously filmed and embarassingly clunky. He also doesn't understand plot, he doesn't know how to handle characters, all he does in this film is fetishise every set piece and just sucks all signs of heart, warmth and coherence in the film like a charisma vacumm. The musical segments are completely unnecessary and just kill the tone at every moment it cues, it's basically a stupid music video stretched to an hour and forty minutes and let me tell you, it feels like your sitting there watching it much longer. I've never seen something as idiotic, awfuly written, poorly acted, thinly plotted, incomprehensible, annoying, heartless, empty, stupid, crass and boring as the low brow, unknowingly awful Sucker Punch in a very long time, and I include in that, Michael Bay's Transformers franchise.Directors C Super Reviewer
