As travelogue, it's functional, though no more revealing or enlightening than what we saw in the recent Karl Pilkington series "An Idiot Abroad", and its characters and storytelling pale in comparison with 2009's "Three Miles North of Molkom...", a similar quest for Something Higher, which - despite a wry scepticism in its perspective - nevertheless conveyed a sense of the togetherness than can result from seeking to become one with the universe. "Tantric Tourists"' failing is that, by contrast, it remains resolutely earthbound: the interpersonal business it sporadically observes is exactly the same mundane stuff a reality show would get taking these students on a tour of British motorway service stations.
