jorge g 10/14/2021 A criminally underexposed documentary, it gives the tragic story of Chris McCandless as matter-of-factly as it can be. No glorification, no hagiography. Haunting stuff, must see. Whether Lamonthe is wittering on about some mythical Generation X (he seems to think nobody travelled the world prior to or since the 90's), whether he's trying to make his film interesting with the weird 'Sean Penn is trying to get me' angle or whether it's just when he's filming all aspects of his mid-life crisis, this documentary is a stone-cold turkey. Annoying thing is that there are one or two really interesting revelations made about McCandless and his tragic story but it's lost underneath the utter guff Lamothe wants to portray instead.
