TheMovieSearch R @TheMovieSearch 5h The Dating App Killer: The Monica White Story is unfortunately another Netflix film that grabs attention because of its title and true-story premise, only to leave viewers realizing there was much more potential. The biggest problem is the screenplay. The story plays everything too safely, making the movie feel bland and predictable. We’re told this man is a serial killer, but we barely see enough of his crimes to establish him as a terrifying threat. That makes the premise feel underdeveloped. The relationship between him and the woman is another missed opportunity. Their confrontation suddenly becomes frightening, but there isn’t enough buildup to make that fear feel earned. The sudden shift feels disconnected. Ultimately, the film needed more suspense and stronger buildup. The concept had everything necessary to become an engaging thriller, but the execution never reaches that potential. I liked the true-story angle, but the movie settles for far less.
