The biggest draw, of course, are the star acts: Caprio, Damon and Mark Wahlberg in particular are electric.

The Departed is an example of a cinematic master seeking to live up to the veneration with which he is regarded by his pupils.

Not only is The Departed not among the best of Scorsese's films; it's not even the best version of this film.

Nicholson is on good-to-great form as the paternal brute, and lends an inimitable relish to certain lines in William Monahan's screenplay.

As in his remake of Cape Fear, Scorsese has mucked up a B-movie he professes to love: producing something full of twists but devoid of that lovely, fluttery, rare thing: surprise.

Sep 13, 2017A brilliantly well told gangsta movie that has an amazing story that plays out so well and easy to understand which I was worried an overstuffed plot would ruin it, All the cast were terrific but with such a huge cast it was always going to be great, It's brutal, Clever and has a great ending, There's not much action but it's not about that, If you're into Martin Scorsese films then you will love this.Jamie C Super Reviewer

Jun 22, 2016This one is top notch and well deserving the of the 4 Oscars it took home. Story is an undercover state cop who's infiltrated the Irish mob in Boston and a mole in the police working for the same mob race to track down and identify each other before being exposed to the enemy. Keeps you on edge to see who will come out on top the entire film right until the end. DiCaprio, Damon, Nicholson, and Wahlberg all give immaculate performances. Right up there with Casino and Goodfellas as one of Scorsese's best.Patrick W Super Reviewer

Apr 04, 2016With a legend like Martin Scorsese at the helm of this movie, how can this remake of the Chinese film "Infernal Affairs" not be something memorable. He truly creates something memorable with this and has actually created one of the rare reboots that are actually better than the original one. The performances in this movie are also amazing. Leonardo DiCaprio truly shines in this movie where he actually have a scene opposit one of the greatest actors ever Jack Nicholson. Marky Mark is also incredibly good in this movie. And then of course Matt Damon, but he's always good. This is truly one of the greatest movies that have ever been made by an American filmmaker.Lasse G Super Reviewer

Mar 11, 2016Thanks to a well-written script performed by a packed cast of A-listers, The Departed is by far one of the most enticing crime dramas ever made. The characters are so efficiently fleshed out, too. Add in great music, editing, and a masterful job directing, and Scorcese's 2006 film earns a rare 5/5 rating from this humble amateur.Ben B Super Reviewer
