Monotone pace, boring camera shots and robot cast don’t do the scenario justice. A very similar setup—an eccentric young man trying to adhere to the anti-materialist tenets of the philosophers he studies ends up, through an accidental event, forming a circle around him that includes thieves, the homeless and even a prostitute who becomes friend, lover, confidante and adherent to the cause.
