Critics Consensus

The Last Viking leverages Nikolaj Lie Kaas and Mads Mikkelsen's finely tuned chemistry to anchor its cartoonish violence and offbeat humor, resulting in a film that's as sincere and affecting as it is bizarre.

As always, Jensen and company are making a screwball comedy, with dark and violent undertones, about finding a community of exceedingly strange strangers with whom you can be as broken and deluded as you need to be. Go to Full Review

Annette A @aracha2026 2d I didn't know how much there was going to be to the emotions. At first, it's the very darkest humor, a lot of confusion, and some weird moments, but really, it's about the dysfunction of the family, identity, and figuring out what's happening to you. The chemistry the two actors, Mads Mikkelsen and Nikolaj Lie Kaas, build up during the film is remarkable. There are some scenes which are so hilariously bizarre, and others are so significantly heavy, but some shifts of tone which I think are good for the viewers. It's weird, it's violent, it's funny, it's oddly touching. Not your average comedy, but definitely one that you will remember after. See more R T @Karnika 4d I recently watched The Last Viking and really enjoyed it. The movie does a great job of bringing the Viking world to life with its action, atmosphere and storytelling. The journey of the characters kept me engaged, and the historical setting made it even more interesting. What I liked most was the adventurous feel throughout the movie. It has a good mix of action, drama, and emotion that keeps you invested until the end. Overall, it was an entertaining watch and a good choice for anyone who enjoys historical action movies. See more didier L @RT18203544 5d The Last Viking surprised me with how emotional and grounded it felt. The action was solid, but what really stayed with me was the story of loyalty, survival, and sacrifice. It had that raw Viking atmosphere without feeling overdone. Definitely one of those movies that keeps you invested from start to finish. Great actors in a very bad movie, I can't recommend it an feel like I wasted my time watching it. See more Dennui S @dennui Feb 6 Anders Thomas Jensen has not made a bad movie.
