Critics Consensus

As gripping as it is deeply unsettling, The Perfect Neighbor lays bare the systemic failures and the quiet terror embedded in American legal systems with surgical precision.

A chilling and provocative look at the limits of policing, particularly when the laws the police are called to enforce present more of a problem than a solution. Go to Full Review

Captured entirely from police cam footage, this Oscar-buzzed documentary about a white Florida woman who murders her Black neighbor indicts an entire society. It's also the scariest movie you’ll see this Halloween season. Go to Full Review

The film refuses to let the audience look away and leaves viewers heartbroken, perturbed, and painfully aware of how much work still needs to be done, both in law enforcement and in society at large. Go to Full Review

the film’s point is not to center the victim or individuate the neighbors, but to say, "See, this lady who claims to be scared is actually terrorizing a neighborhood. Recognize her true face so you don’t become complicit now or in the future." Go to Full Review

Nate S @smithn1124 1d The Perfect Neighbor was neither a fun watch nor a fun reminder of the bleak realities of our aggressively divided country, but it was powerful in its depiction of such. A story like this one stings more than anything, but it’s an important story to be aware of and share. See more Triston W @Triston1 6d One of the best and tragic docs I have ever seen See more Daniel L @Hotchopeppa Jul 6 Slow burning and tragic. See more Anonymous D @RT31350931 Jul 5 The most boring, pointless documentary I've ever seen. Why does anyone like this or care? There's nothing of interest here. One lady shoots another lady over nothing. It's 2 hours of body cams and people complaining about dumb trivial stuff. See more Par H @Parhwy Jul 1 A Perfect Neighbour (2025) is a 98-minute-long US documentary I saw on Netflix in July 2026. I watch a bit of Mid West Safety, a YouTube Channel which shows police body cam footage in a largely unedited way ("unedited" as in it is edited however it is presented in a linear, chronological way). That is why I watched this film. This doco gives chronological breaks and flips. I enjoyed the audio laid over static footage. Scenes linger too long. I was torn by this documentary in that initially I felt the lady, Lorincz, was a troublesome neighbour, then later I was like, "Hmmm, these kids seem like a fucking nuisance." I imagined myself in both places. In my notes I wrote, "This problem could have been solved by FENCES" yet it was ‘solved’ by guns and the court. May I say, those detectives were utterly shit, reminds me of those detectives in Making a Murderer who corralled Brendan Dassey. Rewatch? No. Recommend? No. 5/10. See more Sa D @RT64242434 Jun 25 devastating, well-told and absolutely urgent. See more Read all reviews
