The script is co-written by the American actor Paul Reiser, with a very broad sense of humour, though it’s likable enough. Colm Meaney is also on decent form as undertaker Ciáran.

The movie was full of cliches, stereotype, no real cultural specificity, and forced identity cliches. Barry's sudden Jewish practice and his daughter's gay marriage felt forced or a "required" elements rather than natural development of the plot.

I disagree mightily with Claudia P. Definitely a keeper! Hysterical casting of Paul and Colm who fill every scene with laughter. Nice sidebar with Paul's "daughter." Lovely accents including Brooklynese.

It was slated as a comedy but very few comedy scenes to be sure. The scenery was typical Ireland (I have been there 30+ times as my father from County Clare (Kilkee) and I live in New Jersey.
