The Remains wants to be a James-Wan-inspired haunted house flick, but can't even outshine the short film it's based on. Go to Full Review

Too many frequent loud noises and overpowering background music come across as distracting -- not scary. Go to Full Review

C K @Horror-geek01 1d If visuals counted for anything it would be this one star, what's worse is that the the film had a cookie cutter storyline which i wouldn't have mind at all.. what I can mind though would be the flat acting and the pacing is too sped up which leaves nothing for suspense. The older sister was an unbearable and a troublesome cliche for how teenage girls are in these one parent passed away movies which leaves her to be unlikeable already. The ghosts aren't scary at all and happen to show up way too soon the children start acting cheesily scary way too soon into the film and it's almost comical if only this were a spoof. The dad has almost no emotion in his face even though his wife did pass away the direction the actor or director depending if the actor just couldn't express mourning or the director just wanted the roles to rehearsed flat. I would not recommend this I've seen smaller budgets do more the whole thing could have went so well even as cliche as the script was if done right. See more Katie W Jul 5 I thought the start was pretty good, a fair introduction and not bad acting for a "scary" film. Last 10-15 mins let it down, poorer effects and a fairly standard storyline with no real end to the film. Basically just started the same thing again. Would have been good to have more paranormal/demonic happenings too. Not bad but I wouldn't watch it again. See more 12/27/2022 Listen, it was halloween and we just wanted a little indie horror movie. It was awful. Nothing was good. Nothing. See more 02/04/2021 Strange but serviceable cast selection. Starts well but falls far short. See more 10/19/2020 Don't waste your time with this movie. Every single "scary" part of this movie can be found in the trailer. This movie has about 5 minutes of "horror." The rest of the movie is horribly boring and just just drags on and on. However, I will say, the last 10ish minutes of this movie are so hilariously bad and I loved every second of it. See more 07/16/2020 This is very much your stereotypical haunted house film done badly. It tries to be a mix of Poltergeist, Sinister and The Haunting in Connecticut but missed the ball park completely. The acting is strained/forced, the characters have no depth, all of them are stereotypes and theres only a vague understanding of whats happening. You can see what theyre going for but they simply dont manage it. See more Read all reviews
