09/07/2021 Hearing the wisdom of someone who's lived a century on this earth is rarely an opportunity to be missed, and this movie is no exception. Stand Up Doll is a warming reminder that no matter how tough things get, life goes on. See more kyle s 04/21/2021 The Stand Up Doll is a great title, as we learn so much about a woman's life in this movie. Her story is truly fascinating and it was handled delicately by the director. The movie is also quite thought provoking at times, especially when covering events in world history through one person's eyes. Check this one out. See more 02/04/2021 A moving and heartfelt documentary about everyday people. If you enjoy stories of normal people doing incredible things then this is a film for you. In a day and age where our elderly seems to be forgotten this is a beautiful gesture to our older generation. It should inspires us all to live everyday and enjoy our moments. See more 01/14/2021 A beautiful story about the resilience of humans, or perhaps one in particular. This film was so relatable to me as a musician and as someone who has heard her family's first account stories of surviving the Holocaust. I love how Risa's story was told, and how the imagery used relays the beauty that constantly surrounding us, if we just remember to look and notice. Risa Inglefeld, who this story is about, has seen more than anyone, and has experienced such sadness, but she continues to defy the odds and overcome her troubles through humor and finding companionship. This story also touches on transgenerational trauma as well as the pressures of gender norms. I understand Risa's feelings about Vienna; it is such a beautiful city, but haunted with its history. I am so happy that Risa's story has been told. See more 12/21/2020 A lovely, inspiring, and intimate look at the life and memories of a 99 year old woman: Evelyne Tollman Werzowa. The documentary tracks through so many aspects of her incredible life without ever feeling tedious or redundant. It is inspiring to see someone with such a zest for life at her age and having experienced all the tragedies she has. Highly recommend, and one to revisit often.
