Clever little crime drama.
...a great example of a film that's unfairly fallen through the cracks.
The Stickup is a low-key crime thriller/noir that works largely because of the cast, and a decent, though imperfect script. James Spader has just the right amount of presence and charm to carry his role, and generally has some good chemistry with Leslie Stefanson. The script, though derivative, has enough twits to keep things interesting, though it has some notable dialogue deficiencies. The biggest failing of the film is the ending, which boarders on self-parody, but the first two thirds of the film are executed well enough to make it watchable.
I felt like I was watching a Made For TV movie but a real good Made For TV movie.Everytime you think you had it all figured out, Another twist was thrown in & thats what made it good. The Stick Up is a movie I'd tell you to see at least once
