Movie Info

This film adaptation of Jack Kerouac's novel bears little resemblance to the book. It is more of a Hollywood perception of the beat generation and the characters are more like watered down characterizations. Leo (George Peppard) cruises the North Beach area and winds up at a local coffee house. He falls for Mardou (Leslie Caron) a crazy beatnik babe. When she becomes pregnant, the two decide to leave the bongo beating, expresso swilling, poetry raving lunatics and their world behind.
