Pleasant enough but sometimes jarring with the seriousness of what is at stake. Go to Full Review

... a fair wartime adventure that could benefit from more suspense, even if it depicts how even tiny cogs can disrupt a much larger machine. Go to Full Review

Its wry take on the surprising power of paperwork, and its depiction of plain, simple humanity in the face of official appeasement rings true enough to grow genuinely affecting. Go to Full Review

Gosta Engzell may not have the fame of Oskar Schindler, but his story is still worth telling. Go to Full Review

It's rare to see a World War II drama open with dark humor and bureaucratic satire instead of immediate solemnity. Go to Full Review

Sophie M @RT89591316 Mar 15 It tells the very serious true story in a very human and different way, which I appreciated very much having seen a lot of films about the Second World War. I think it's forgotten that people are just people, even in a war, and it's not always the huge things that can make a difference. It's a great story because it's ordinary people changing the course of history. It's a timely lesson to learn in these far-right times. Small contributions can make a very big difference to pushing back against what at times can feel like an irresistible force. We should all try to be a little bit Gösta Engzell See more Karen K @Karena18 Mar 9 An understated telling of this not commonly known true story. How the clever but risky actions of a few midlevel bureaucrats ended up saving the lives of over 100,000 Jewish people from the Nazi death camps. The hero of the story never directly told his story and has stayed in relative anonymity but is owed a great debt. See more Jim S. @jvs252 Mar 8 Too silly and felt disjointed. See more Per S @RT83737705 Mar 7 Apart from perhaps some animated characters a generally well made true story based film about Swedish diplomat Gösta Engzell and his team who through legal deftness saved some 100.000 European Jews from deportation to Nazi Germany during WW2. Henrik Dorsin is outstanding in the main role. See more M. G @Salome245 Mar 6 Fascinating little known history - strong performances from all the actors. Having visited Sweden before it was interesting to hear the language and to once again realize how close the country is to Russia and Germany geographically-they must have felt very vulnerable esp after Denmark was taken. The length is also manageable- highly recommend this film. See more Brett M @Brettski Mar 4 I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was quite a pleasant surprise. Leads right into the book Number the Stars. A great educational movie for my kids and me. See more Read all reviews
