Joseph M @Jmads06 Jan 8 I expected it to be more like a documentary, but was pleasantly surprised by the history-rich story of these two very different but also comparable men talking about regret, forgiveness, and their struggles with morality. I'm not catholic but I still thought it was deeply emotional and I'd strongly recommend watching. See more ER T @RT30459826 Sep 5 As someone who isn't Catholic this film has brought a new appreciation for me of the burden that must be felt by members of ministry all over the world. It handles the topic of how it feels to lose the "voice" of God delicately. My expectations of the film were that it would be dry and only saved by the two Welsh acting legends in the titular roles but it turned out to be anything but. Pryse and Hopkins were proof that less is definitely more and weren't afraid to use silence to speak. The performances of Juan Munijin and Lisandro Fiks were strikingly visceral; the director's ability to set the "story within a story" seemlessly within the overall picture was more than well done. However, as a motion picture, the story is great and well presented. Anthony Hopkins and Jonathan Price were fantastic in their respective roles. Fernando Meirelles did a marvelous job with The Two Popes. For me, it has replay value. Periodically, I get the urge to watch it again.
