What saves 'Tiny Fugitives' from the dustbin of post-Apatow mediocrity is the underlying sweetness that cuts, like a glass of Manischewitz, through all the acid.

This absconding plot is pretty thin, but the film’s constituent parts are strong, including the muscular score by Joseph Stephens, great-looking title treatments and Knoxville’s performance, which is funny, physical and surprisingly touching.

Co-screenwriters Lewen and Jacob Kaplan have written some very funny lines and also inject a surprising level of sweetness into the proceedings, even making Knoxville’s character ultimately far more sympathetic and likable than he initially appears.

This movie had the unique ability to bring tears to my eyes — first from laughing so hard at the jokes, to then being moved by truly heartfelt, tender moments between and among the characters. The writing is magnificent — beautifully capturing the essence of what it means to be a kid of this age while also offering up unique and hilarious dialogue. The kid ensemble really works, and it’s so nice to see Johnny Knoxville in this different kind of role. So great to get to see it in the theatre! Go now!

Hilarious and touching ode to summer camp. Great script and acting.. don’t be afraid to take kids as it’s bad language but otherwise no sex violence etc. we loved! It! Fineman forever!
