Between meeting with the Rabbi, funeral preparations, and sitting shiva, Kate has no time to process Mom's absence. In fact, Kate's not sure if she's crying because Mom's dead, or because she's related to these freaks: an adulterous father, Damien, and a histrionic sister, Trini. Kate finds an ally in her brother, Josh, who spearheads funeral arrangements. Mom did her best to outline everything specifically. But Damien never signed off on the paperwork prior to their divorce.

The cast is first-rate in this gutsy indie with a strong message about how it sometimes is best to uproot from a dysfunctional family tree in order to maintain your own sanity. Go to Full Review

Brian M @RT04458785 10/12/2024 One of the best indie films I've ever seen. Making movies is about making your audience feel, and this movie does that in spades. Incredible performances, writing, and below the line come together to form the liberating journey of a college student learning how to set boundaries from the toxic people, both beloved and not, in her life. A relatable message for young audiences. See more Emily G @RT59920598 03/25/2024 This is a great movie! I first saw it at Cinequest where it won the Jury Award for Best Feature and the Audience Award. The direction is smart and creative, the acting is fantastic, the storytelling is compelling. An awesome, heartfelt, grounded indie. See more IMMA R @dais_50 03/22/2024 A thoughtful and insightful film about the family ties we choose to keep! Hilarious and heartwarming! I will be seated for whatever these filmmakers do next! See more Sophie C @RT95209497 03/19/2024 This movie makes you feel all the emotions: you laugh one moment and are in tears the next.
