22/06/2010 (DVD) The creators of "Forbidden Kingdom" and "Kung-Fu Hustle" bring us another humorous karate kicking comedy! A pretty laughable flick with supernatural kung-fu action and a bunch of funny idiots who act as celebrity knock-offs such as Jacky Tang who looks like "Jackie Chan", Jet Ly who looks like "Jet Li" and another one who looks like "Andy Lau". I was expecting more however, it did entertain me so it wasn't a bad film but a good enough flick to pass the time.

Marco Mak and Francis Ng team up for a Hong Kong wuxia comedic adventure. Actually, it isn't necessarily an adventure.
For a film that is just under 90 minutes, the plot is really simple; however, it seems to be what the directors are going for, as the comedy and wackiness just over power the treasure hunt story. There is a mayor that always has to pee and three characters that look like Jackie Chan, Jet Li, and Andy Lau. As a matter of fact, their names are Jackie, Jet, and Andy.

The martial arts isn't much. Only in the early going and the latter portions of the film does it show up in good quantities. This is too bad, because the choreography is quite good, despite the mediocre camera angles, editing, and erratic camera effects. At certain points, these effects do amuse. One of these times is the opening credits that take place a little before the 10 minute mark.

It is hard to fault the acting when the characters are as weird as they are. They do entertain more than they annoy, so that is a plus.

Tracing Shadow is just one of those laid back films without much to concentrate on. Just sit back and relax. Or watch a better movie.
