Sure, these next eight episodes are still earnest and easy-to-digest, but by stripping away everything that made this show so special in Season 1, A Man on the Inside is also forgettable. Go to Full Review

I was glad I watched. But... the return of A Man on the Inside illustrates what an impressive balancing act that first year was, and how hard it is to do that again. Go to Full Review

This is casual viewing at its best… funny characters, a light but engaging mystery, and a storyline that contains enough variety to keep every episode fresh and fun. Go to Full Review

Mike Schur knows that if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it -- and the absolute best thing I can say about the return of Netflix’s A Man on the Inside is that not a single thing was tinkered with in between seasons. Go to Full Review
Stephen Thompson Pop Culture Happy Hour (NPR Podcast) Dec 3
It's an out-there premise, but it's also a tender and poignant depiction of loss, aging, and finding community. Go to Full Review

Ben N @Bneffer 9h Unfortunately the second season is a drop off, mainly because the story is a bit more chaotic, and the payoff not as good. Still over the characters and the actors. The setting is fun, but the narrative is loose and strings are pulled with less nuance than in the superior first season. I hope if the show continues (and I hope it does) that the third season begins this in. See more Kerrin B @KerBearZA Feb 4 I absolutely loved season 2. I enjoyed the character growth shown. It is clear that the writers always had a longer story arc planned and that season 2 was not tacked on as an afterthought. I valued the return and involvement of characters from season 1 in some episodes. I enjoyed learning more about them and seeing them fill out. Ted Danson is a gracious, sweet gentleman and I find his lines and mannerisms reminiscent of men I know. I appreciated the thought taken in writing characters who are complex, imperfect and relatable, without smut or vulgarity. It is a pleasant balance of realism and decency. I thoroughly enjoyed this series, as I had season 1. Thank you. Looking forward to season 3. This is family friendly and satisfying. See more Tamara M. @Syrup_Rep Jan 11 This was okay. Watched it shortly after finishing Season 1, and the drop in quality was apparent. Previously, the non spy storylines feel integrated to the overall plot. While in Season 2, that seems like a side story that was forced to be added to add depth to the series. The spy plot itself wasn’t as clear and intriguing. I still had a good time, not great, watching this season. See more Vincent S @Vance666 Jan 9 After a fairly decent Season 1, Season 2 is a total flop. The plot is thin, the acting subpar, the premise stupid, the characters wearing. Who really cares about a liberal arts college in California charging students almost $100k to attend. So one student has to work 15 jobs? GO TO A STATE SCHOOL! The professors were lame and Mary Steenburgen did nothing to enhance the plot! Give me the Kaminsky Method anyday! Wheeler College stinks! See more Jack F Jan 8 We enjoyed season 1, but didn't make it through the Thanksgiving episode of season 2. Not the same show as last time. This seems to be a recurring theme with streamers these days. Build an audience with a solid first season, then bring in the backups to keep it going. Another one goes off the rails. See more John F. @Fisher5306 Dec 29 Season 2 is nearly unwatchable. Mona (Mary Steenburgen) will drive you insane. See more Read all reviews
