Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake, season two, is stronger than the first season. It shows that there is still very much left in the Adventure Time universe as it strives to grow with its original audience and connect with newer generations of fans. Go to Full Review

Heebie J @hebzzz Jan 14 It was pretty good. But not as good as season one if im being honest. Huntress wizard was a great chcracter but finn dying was just..such a mid plotline. And i feel like teh side characters in this season did not get any spotlight and it makes me sad. (like, i needed more marshall lee). but, once again, it was super good, characters were good, world building was good, definitely iggybacked off of season one and i still love it for that See more kstuf d @Jean-Aires Jan 11 It was nothing, but unbearably mid. Inconsistent characters, inconsistent writing. HW was unlikable and unrecognizable. It was all over the place, the end felt like an effort to put everything back together and end it. The fionna universe is incredibly irrelevant, the plot of that universe was horrible, and everything had to go wrong. It was predictable, and even the parts that mattered, Finn and huntress, felt lacking. It seemed to thrive in cheap nostalgia, showing young Finn, the old settings and all. But it all felt sad, sad because I know they'll never reach the same level of creativity. They'll never experiment drastically, like the original series did. Fionna and cake is a cracked shell of what AT were. They use the same characters, some settings, but they will never be what it was. The only part that's worth it, and the internet reflect it, is Finn's flashbacks. If they kept the writing, and made a show solely on Finn's life after everything, it wouldn't be this bad. See more Gloxo Studios @Gloxo Jan 4 It still has that Adventure Time magic. This was a blast to wait and watch every week. My only nitpick would be that they connected Fionna and OOO better in season 1 in my opinion in here its a bit disjointed but its not boring. Maybe part of the reason it felt that way is because we got 1 episode per week instead of 2 so waiting period was a bit longer. But ALL the love and care that put into this season/show is clear as day. All the small callbacks and details only true fans can point out and enjoy to the heartfelt emotional messages and metaphors, Adventure Time team yet again delivered a masterpiece and i want to thank them for it. I hope we get a season 3. See more Fabrizio B @FabrizioB Dec 31 Extremely rare to see a cartoon keep itself from collapsing during spin offs or new seasons in general... Not only they've been able to give us more informations about the world of the show, but they even managed to restructure it in a way that doesn't seem forced. Plus, and this is something I rarely see nowadays, during all of the duration of season, we were never able to foresee what was going to happen, and how the story was going to unfold, with the writers not fearing for their characters to make wrong choices and change their goals during the episodes, keeping alive what they achieved, but still having a grade of unknown that can make their achievements collapse if they don't manage to gather the courage to change their viewpoint. See more Alex M. @CitricDolphin Dec 29 Part of what made Adventure Time work is that it could explore fun nonsense in an episodic way, but also do really cool story arcs whenever the creators had ideas. This continued into the first season of Fionna and Cake. Its existence felt completely justified and it served as a natural continuation of where Adventure Time left off. Unfortunately, season 2 feels like they were forced to write a story arc without having any ideas. It's meandering and all over the place. It doesn't feel like it's going anywhere half the time. Some episodes have so much spoken exposition that the characters are pretty much giving each other therapy. It makes up new rules for itself with reckless abandon, and some of them are so vague and artsy that I was audibly going "what??" while watching. That last one is especially disappointing because Adventure Time was usually impressively self-consistent with its worldbuilding and magic. I'd only recommend this if you're already very invested, and even then, it's iffy. If you're a casual viewer wondering whether to watch this, you should probably give it a pass.
