Season two became exceptional with the Gorman storyline, one of the most powerful episodes in television and Star Wars. Its depiction of political violence felt moving, raw, and disturbingly real. My main criticism is the lack of fully developed villains. Cyril received some complexity, though I see him more as a misguided, opportunistic anti-hero than a true villain. Dedra and the ISB director, however, were given little insight beyond their roles within the Empire. The story never adequately explored their backgrounds, motivations, or why they believed the Empire was justified, even as they accepted atrocities such as Gorman’s destruction and the development of a planet-killing weapon. Incredible writing, production, acting, and build-up to an explosive final 3 episodes to lead in to Rogue One. This show as a whole was a very impressive effort from all involved, and possibly the best thing to come out of the Star Wars Universe aside from the original trilogy. It does suffer from a weak start with a slow and even pointless side story concerning in-fighting between people stuck on a planet that didn't really amount to anything. It also does lack a lot of action set-pieces compared to the first season. However, the story is so incredibly engaging and its large focus on spy work is terrific stuff. Seeing how the Rebellion finally got its start was a story worth watching! A satisfying prequel series! See more Alexander E @RT78360161 Sep 5, 2026 What makes Andor so brilliant, is that it highlights the inevitable sacrifices and costs of revolution in a shattering way that isn't nearly achieved by any other Star Wars movie or series. It challenges the illusion that the rebellion is a completely "clean" and honest collective, and still we come to realize that it might be the only way to stand a chance against evil. Combined with one of the best cinematography, music and character design I've ever seen, Andor finally tells the tale of those who gave everything for a greater good, revealing a long history of pain and hope on which the rebellion was built on and in doing so draws shocking parallels to our world.
