There’s so much time spent introducing characters the crime itself seems an afterthought. Then again, it’s the characters that make Annika stand out in a crowded market. Go to Full Review

We hang on Annika’s every word because she’s played with mischievous bite by the wonderful Nicola Walker... Go to Full Review

I am very intrigued by the idea of a marine homicide unit itself, if only for the scenery provided. The show rightly places weight on its panoramic views. One, from Annika’s boss’s office windows, is so stunning I can hardly pay attention the scene. Go to Full Review

Ittay1 S @Ittay11 Mar 29 The only clear emotion I felt was embarrassment, towards which the creators & the great Nicola Walker seem to have invested a lot of their cinematic resources & talents - in several "successful" ways. Otherwise ALL characters are too shallow and/or bizarre and/or shortly exposed - for me to relate to, or form any emotion such as curiosity, identifying-with, like or dislike. So is the plot, and the entire concept of the series. Every 45 min episode squeezes-in a totally new, very very standard & banale, whodunit procedural. The stories of the characters do evolve through episodes, but passed the first 3 episodes, all I feel is un-interest, no emotion other than embarrassment, and slight aversion of trying to ingest yet another un-interesting and embarrassing episode. The choice of placing all this in "The Scotland Marine Homicide Unit" and tying-in Nordic mythology & Norwegian phrases are additional reasons to suspect this show has no inherent meaningful substance of it’s own. See more rhonald b @RT97801993 Aug 30 I can't get enough of that dry Scottish wit. See more Martin F @RT61591909 Aug 14 I keep watching but I can't say I really like it and not sure why. They keep making them, so someone must..... See more Steve W @Whiteysteve Aug 3 Late to the party but as a Brit living in Canada was not aware of this until recently. Nicole Walker is great as usual. I did struggle initially with her talking to camera but it grew on me, as it was insightful, funny and sometimes explained some context. Very dry humour, and some good plots each week being different. See more Pets N @RT88591897 Jun 26 Awesome British crime drama. The writing and the acting are excellent. Nicola Walker (Annika) is flawless in this role, very naturally giving occasional asides to camera on Norse mythology in reflection on unfolding circumstances. A bit more focused on the inner life of its central investigator than your standard police procedural. No notes. See more Read all reviews
