It's undeniable that Netflix's adaptation is a reminder of how much we missed the world of Avatar. It's still so much fun, and there's still so much to learn with messages that ring even more true today... Go to Full Review

The result is a charming but imperfect adaptation that vastly improves upon the 2010 film — but never soars quite as high as the original animated show. Go to Full Review

The Netflix adaptation is far from a disaster, but it doesn’t master the elements that made the original so good. Go to Full Review

Getting to grips with Avatar sometimes feel like wrestling a giant flying buffalo. But when it does achieve lift-off, this tale of a follicly challenged magic teenager bouncing off clouds is a breath of fresh air. Go to Full Review

It understands that the series is working toward Aang's mastering all four elements and what it means to travel the world, pick up new fighting techniques, and make new allies and friends who could come in handy in the battle against the Fire Nation. Go to Full Review

sofia T @RT48720534 5h Live action of the Ember island play bruh. No respect for the story, the characters or anything whatsoever, not surprised the OG creators walked out pf it the second they could. Definitely recommend watching the cartoon if you like the whole bending stuff or whatever is drawing you to watch this show, don't support mediocre adaptations. See more Luv R @RT51008193 2d Great adaptation. Takes some creative liberties to rework the story Into a shorter episode structure but in my opinion, (and I say this as someone who's binged bothe the original and Korra time and time again, along with reading the comics) it kept the spirit of the show in tact. It drops some plot lines, shifts some, and copies others almost beat for beat. The first episode is rocky but it gets good pretty fast. Half a star off for not being quite as great as the cartoon, which is an utter masterpiece, but it does an amazing job at streamlining the original plot and avoiding plot holes. See more MICHAEL M @MichaelMpeaty 4d Sound music guy absolutely ruins the entire show with his strings and garbage not like the cartoon version at all See more R T @pawlata 5d As someone who considers the original Avatar: The Last Airbender one of the greatest TV series ever made, I was deeply disappointed. The biggest issue isn’t that this adaptation changes things—it’s that it misunderstands what made the original special. Characters no longer feel like themselves. Aang has lost much of his childlike joy and curiosity, Ty Lee and Mai barely resemble their animated counterparts in appearance or energy, and many relationships feel rushed or underdeveloped. The screenplay is surprisingly shallow, with emotional moments that rarely have enough time to breathe. Several important storylines are compressed, merged, or omitted entirely, making the journey feel less meaningful and the world much smaller. Visually, the effects are impressive and Iroh is wonderfully cast, but great CGI cannot replace strong character writing. This feels less like a faithful adaptation and more like a simplified retelling that sacrifices the heart of the original. See more Read all reviews
