News & Interviews for Big Shot: Season 1
It does such a great job of setting the character up, but two episodes in I'm still waiting for this world to develop.
While it's easy to see what [Big Shot] is up to ... it's the softer touch that catches you off guard.
The show certainly has some flaws... But as an engaging family drama, and one that illustrates the obstacles girls face when they try to achieve in sports, Big Shot is mostly a winner.
The charismatic cast certainly helps. Stamos may never win an Oscar, but he's a reliably likable TV presence who makes it easy to root for a high-strung bully who's trying to rebuild his life.
If Big Shot is able to find its footing, it's thanks to Stamos. He renders a believable performance-Marvyn's discomfort at this major life change eventually transforms into subtle acceptance and joy.
Stamos is the ultimate utility player, capable of delivering dry wit and sweet sentiment in equal measure. Stamos is the ultimate utility player, capable of delivering dry wit and sweet sentiment in equal measure.
A solidly-written show with a fine cast, and John Stamos doing his usual great job in the lead.
It's a mess, and it doesn't even have the good grace to be a fun one.
Big Shot is a perfectly adequate show ostensibly targeting a teen audience for Disney+. The cast makes the most of awkward moments, but the lingering feeling three episodes in is that no one is sure exactly which show they're on.
Big Shot has the potential to be a great show if it continues to grow episode by episode and ultimately offers something unique to the genre rather than rehashing stereotypical stories.
It's a sweet, sunny series -- if not as endearing as Disney+'s The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers.
Audience Reviews for Big Shot: Season 1
4d agoAmazing show. I haven't been bored of a single episode so far and I also get excited when Friday comes and it's the only thing that gets me to go to the shop for some popcorn everytime a new episode is out I hope this show has a long future ahead of it as the cast and the production team all deserve it for all there incredible work.
Apr 24, 2021So far it's been a very good. Good characters and good development.
Apr 22, 2021John Stamos is fantastic
Apr 21, 2021Only one episode so far but I cannot wait for the rest of the season. But it's a little weird that two teenagers compliment Marvin Korn (John Stamos) on his looks right?
Apr 20, 2021This is D+'s hidden gem of a show. It is so entertaining. The writing and the direction is done so well which you would expect from David E. Kelley. The acting is so good John Stamos, Yvette Nicole Brown, and Jessalyn Gilsig all anchor the series amazingly. The girls acting is also so so amazing and they each have an amazing angle. Definitely a must watch!
Apr 18, 2021The pilot: finally something set in the real work.
Apr 17, 2021In your first episode, Disney's Big Shot had a good start with strong performances and a good storyline. I liked it so much. Resuming, it's a very promising TV Show.
Apr 16, 2021I really liked the first episode I love the story line that they're doing
Apr 16, 2021the acting is first class but the writing and how the story is tolled is horrible. they make out the main character (Marvyn) to be the villain and make him out as this big bad man who comes in to a girl school and bosses them around. in reality is from the start he tolled the girls that he is and I quote 'I am mostly a nice person. Sometimes I am not. Expect to be yelled at. Don't take it personally. If I call you stupid, I give you permission to ignore it. But if I tell you why you're stupid, then I want you to pay close attention' witch is very reasonable as he is telling them put bluntly i am nice sometimes not I will call you stupid I don't mean it and I will try to improve you as players. witch is what a coaches job is to do. after he says this they make him out to be the villain basically demonising him for no reason. then he lays of a played that disrespected him witch is very reasonable considering this is a sports team they're on. all of this can only be cased by a few things. the writers have never seen what a sports team is run like. the girls are mad out to be 1 minded getting offended over something witch happens literally everywhere or the show again as I said are blatantly demonizing him for no apparent reason. everything he dose if very resoluble and realistic and only in the teams best intentions, but they don't like how a man who has years of experience is telling them how to be better because they think they know how things are run. deceiving starts of as soon as he blows the whistle, them not liking how he is using a whistle to gain their attention. witch is just stupid. all he is doing is something a normal coach would do. it just baffles me how sensitive are making out this team to be when in reality I am certain none of these people would act like this if there on a proper basketball team. in conclusion the show is decent but just goes to show how people who are trying to make a show about something witch is so simple and not at all hard to know, taken to a level witch is so unrealistic it hurts. I would recommend watching but just know if you are looking for a realistic take on what coaching a girls basketball team would be like this is not the show for you. all in all not the greatest show out there could be much better if they just tried to bake it just a little bit realistic but is bearable to watch.
