Part cop-procedural-meets-soap-opera, it's a huge dollop of folk-horror that blends gentle humour with high drama and big chills to dish up some Twin Peaks-lite fare.

Not yet finished the whole 2 seasons. But I'm confused... Whole story is based that there is no cell phone coverage in the town /village. So how did season 1 episode 4, Lauren weise was using her mobile to call her daughter and leave voice messages ?

Dark, violent, humourous with a little supernatural spice added to keep you guessing. I can't help but recommend it.

Black spot is great. It is the perfect show to watch after midnight. What amazes me most is that it combines reality with superfilial in a way that it's never silly or wacky. Great cinematography and acting. Love it. The only negative is that sometimes it's a little bit slow

    so so.. not too interesting.

It teetered on being a supernatural crime drama and a soap opera and chose to be a soap opera. It also chose to be an episodal show more than a series with a real story arc which, to me, comes across as lazy writing. Did I complete watching the first season yes. But am I going to watch season 2? No.

Very cool first season, it's different than US shows but very enjoyable.

Take a chance on this hidden Netflix gem. It's a great crime drama with dark overtones . While the voice over quality might pull you out a bit, the overall story arch will likely keep you intrigued until the end. Three and a half forest whispers out of five. Binge worthy.

The mystic mixes with the natural in this gripping series set on the edge of a foreboding forest. In a town cut off from the mainstream French country side the cast weave their magic

Europe's more muted version of twin peaks? Either way it is funny, weird and a good mystery with great acting.

Villefranche is a small town without phone reception on the edge of a mysterious forest. The number of inhabitants is dwindling but there's a sharp rise in crime. Police inspector Laurène, once the victim of a crime herself, keeps on discovering fresh corpses. Think crime drama with more than a little Blair Witch, Pan's Labyrinth and Twin Peaks thrown in. This series came as a nice surprise. It has that catchy mix of dark, mystery ,fantasy, horror and drama set in a back woods French town. The old lore that keeps you tangled in Villefranche's stories. One not to be missed by fans of the genre!
