Such a good show! I can't wait to see what's in store for season 2!

I loved this show. Seeing the characters of Meech and Terry have to balance out their two lives was very entertaining. The one place where I feel the show falls off a bit is the villain of Lamar. He starts out as a threatening, imposing, scary figure, but towards the end of the season he kind of doesn't get a lot to do. Overall, looking forward to a second season!

Imagine Menace II Society meets GoodFellas with more time to dive into characters and motivations. Before you try to jump down my throat and shout blasphemy on my comparison to GoodFellas, hear me out. This show is not getting the attention or acclaim that it deserves. Season 1, episode 5's, "Secrets and Lies", scene with real life brothers Steve and Wood Harris and episode 6's, "Strictly Business" highly memed scene featuring Eric Kofi Abrefa's rendition of Loose Ends' "You Can't Stop The Rain" are shining examples of the caliber of acting this show is displaying. Everything from the locations, to the costumes and music choices add to the authenticity of BMF. It feels like Detroit and it looks like the period this show takes place in. Beyond the acting and the setting is the writing. This show is doing an excellent job of giving us the motivation for all of the main characters and it's not done purely through exposition, we get to see why these characters are driven to their respective actions. Nothing in this show feels forced or like a reach. Do yourself a favor and give this show a chance and soon you'll be hooked and on the edge of your seat as well.

OOF...Honestly, if you told me some kid in the suburbs who watches way too many rap videos wrote for this show I would believe it. The dialogue is so self serving and the scenes so contrived it's more like a parody of a crime show than a gripping drama. It plays out like a first draft of someone's fantasy of what it is to be a drug dealer. I can't stress this enough, this show has some of the worst dialogue I've ever heard spoken aloud. I seriously hope Wood Harris got paid a lot for the brief part he plays in this. The worst part is how smart the show thinks it is. It thinks it's "Goodfellas" or "The Wire," but it's not even "Belly." It's just bad writing acted out with even worse performances. Then there's the problematic issue of how it glorifies the monsters who are it's based on. There are more "save the cat" moments, and way too much humanizing of two crack dealers that helped destroy a city. This is a show about two crack dealing heroes. It makes shallow attempts to hide this by showing how their dealing crack upsets their families but it falls short with the complete lack of concern about the addicts and the community being destroyed around them. I mean, there's no attention being paid at all the impact of dealing crack on the community. NONE. What the show does is spend all it's time galvanizing all of the BMF members, to the point that one would have to assume they had veto power over how they were represented in the show. In the end, there's just nothing of value about this show. The writers either didn't have the courage to tell a complete story about selling crack in Detroit, or they just weren't interested in doing so. What you end up with is a flat, shallow, juvenile story backed up with low production quality, and bad acting. I can't see any reason to watching something this basic. I would put it this way, if "The Wire" were aged Gouda this is spray cheese. Skip it unless you want something to laugh at.

This show is the piece of black history that usually goes untold. The catalyst of black entertainment as we know today, extends from the opportunities the 🏴amily opened up for the lower class minorities.

Not sure about this. Let me start by saying the cast is great. The budget of the the show is not. It's cheap. If you are going to make me root for 2 drug dealers destroying their community, you are going to have to be more compelling than that. As free content, fair enough but this is no Spike Lee TV
