Based on the best-selling series of books by M.R. Hall, "Coroner" follows a recently widowed coroner who investigates unnatural, suspicious or sudden deaths in Toronto. She visits different areas of the city and experiences the diversity of Toronto. She taps into her heart and intellect as she solves cases with the help of homicide detective Donovan McAvoy, pathologist Dr. Dwayne Allen and his assistant River Baitz, and Alison Trent, Jenny's assistant. All while doing her day job, Jenny deals with clinical anxiety, a teenage son named Ross, and working toward a prospective relationship.

While the series' exploration of mental health is a powerful draw, the 42-minute episodes of Coroner follow the familiar tracks of most crime and medical procedurals.

As for the titular black dog that keeps showing up in Jenny's flashbacks -- we have as many guesses as she does why it's there. But that mystery is a welcome one.

Obvious left leaning show with all characters, topics being chosen for inclusion rather than real world. Portraying white males and police in the most negative light. Almost always racist and or crooked as the rule vs reality.

I enjoy this show more than many, I guess. However, I'm not expecting more than the expected storylines of a crime drama. I started watching this show because I was looking for the expected crime drama type of narrative. I think the acting is very good, the actors have chemistry with each other, especially Serinda Swan and the young man who plays her son, Ehren Kassam. I would recommend this to anybody who enjoys crime dramas that also explore the intimate lives of those who are solving the crimes.

This show is just plain bad. From the scripts to the acting to continuity from scene to scene. How do the actors go from being covered in blood or mud in one scene to being in their pristine white crime scene suits in the next? Don’t waste your time on this one.

This show is great. The writing is smart and compelling. It's diverse cast acts well and the show is shot beautifully in/around Toronto Canada. It's so nice to see some quality media showcasing all the values I believe Canadians (as well as other countries) should espouse.

Very calm and moody, sometimes mysterious. We definitely need shows that are not overdramatized with heaps of dead people and bullets flying in every episode, but instead moving through more melancholic waters. I sensed a great chemistry between Selinda Swan and Roger Cross. Since the show does not quite deliver mainstream qualities, I didn't expect it to get two more seasons, so I am very thankful for them.
