Juampi, Pablo Escobar's son, has an atypical childhood and lives surrounded by hitmen who work as his nannies. He idealizes his father, considering him a benefactor, but as he grows up, he learns that his father is, in fact, a criminal. Over the years, he will have to face the burden of his surname and decide whether he wants to continue the family legacy or start a new life from scratch.

Of course, you can expect the obligatory car crashes and shootouts. But Dear Killer Nannies’ biggest gut-punches are quieter and bloodless. Go to Full Review

The series seems more interested in capturing a memory than in challenging it, in narrating from a place of immediacy rather than questioning what that immediacy implies. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

It's reasonably easy to follow, but the frequent jumps in time limit deeper character development, leaving you wanting to know more about the adults who were central to Juampi's childhood beyond his dad. Go to Full Review

While the idea of hearing the story of Pablo Escobar’s son is intriguing, Dear Killer Nannies just doesn’t go deep enough into Juan Pablo Escobar’s life to make things interesting. Go to Full Review

TheMovieSearch R @TheMovieSearch Apr 5 Dear Killer Nanny sounded like it was going to be a sharp, suspenseful thriller, but instead it turns into something far more frustrating. I genuinely thought I was sitting down for a movie, only to realize it was playing more like a television series mixed with a dramatized documentary, and that completely threw me off. The biggest issue is the presentation. It constantly bounces between feeling like a thriller and feeling like some narrated true-crime special, which makes it hard to ever fully get invested. Every time the story starts to pull you in, the narration or documentary-style structure takes you right back out of it. That made the whole thing feel disconnected and honestly pretty boring. The screenplay itself never really settles, and the back-and-forth storytelling keeps it from building any real suspense or momentum. Overall, I did not enjoy how it was produced or how the story was told. The concept had potential, but the execution made it a real letdown.
