Behind the facade of a postcard-perfect subdivision live four women whose lives are anything but idyllic. Klutzy Susan is divorced and the mother of teenage Julie. Lynette is married to Tom and the frazzled mother of four rambunctious children. Bree is the neighborhood's Martha Stewart, whose perfection masks major dysfunction. Ex-model Gabrielle, married to handsome and successful Carlos, wants to have her cake and eat it too. Looking down on it all is Mary Alice, who took her own life but comments on the lives of her former neighbors.

[Dana Delany] actually seems perfect for this role and looks to be a choice adversary for Bree. And I'm genuinely intrigued as to what the big mystery is surrounding her family. Go to Full Review

[Desperate Housewives is] back in fine form, thanks to an amusing premiere that launched a plethora of promising stories while introducing welcome new residents. Go to Full Review

None of those revelations were shocking. It remains to be seen whether creator Marc Cherry has painted himself into a corner in the same way the writers of "How I Met Your Mother" did in their pilot. Go to Full Review

As the new kid of the block, Delany brings a welcome verve to "Housewives." Go to Full Review

This season of Desperate Housewives was pretty intense, especially since it started with the after effects of the tornado. I really enjoyed it and this season was definitely better than the last. Go to Full Review

In an effort to keep itself fresh over its first four seasons, it has jumped the shark, introducing (and ultimately killing off) too many characters and suffering from lazy writing. Go to Full Review

Brian D @Brianwd Dec 2 68%. 12/1/25. Season with the old neighbor Katherine and her daughter. Carlos is blind. Mike and Susan have a baby. Weird how it jumps 5 years ahead at the end of the season See more Test T @TestTest1 May 26 I watched this on DVD recently, after watching seasons 5-8 followed by seasons 1-3. This season only has 18 episodes and the story lines are rather lackluster by comparison to the other seasons. A lot of effort and resource appears to have been spent on an almost cinematic twister episode, which I found completely OTT. Housewives is not an action show, and really does not need an episode like this. Whilst a big disaster on the lane creates endless opportunities to tidy up messy stortlines, with better writing it really should not have been necessary, and to me is indicative of poor season planning. I felt let down, because for the most part I have found the writing in other seasons to be first rate, and this just seemed really weak and desperate. That said, the show is still very entertaining, and the cast do a great job with what they have to work with. In summary, I thought season 4 was a low point for the series, but still well worth watching, for the sake of completeness if nothing else. See more Rain R 12/26/2024 Ingeniously written and definitely bingeworthy the story lines sometimes touch on deeply complex and delicate issues with respectful humour and often profound insights. Some of the storyline threads are shallow and superficial and some lead nowhere - which is frustrating at times. The main actors are all excellent but some of the short-term actors give a less than compelling performance. Provides a nice, highly watchable, tongue-in-cheek escape from daily life, but much too heavy on the sex scenes present in overdrive in every episode and often unnecessary to the story lines giving a trash feeling to the show on many occasions in my opinion. See more Dmitriy A @DMA3434 10/22/2024 good season, recommended!!! See more Jules N 07/21/2024 Dans la lignée de la troisième saison, toujours parfait. See more 05/05/2019 While the last two seasons of Desperate Housewives definitely suffered to live up to season one's high standards (especially season two), season four improved not only from seasons two and three, but also from the critically acclaimed first. Delivering great storylines such as Bree's fake pregnancy, Lynette's cancer, Gaby's affair and even Susan's real pregnancy, season four was already great. But then add the Kayla storyline and season four's top notch mystery, and you get season four, or in my opinion, Desperate Housewives at its finest. The only bad thing about this season is Victor Lang's death, which could've been better, but I can live with it. Despite generally not considered as the series' best season, it sure did convinced me.
