Difficult People: Season 2 (2016)

Critic Consensus: Difficult People picks up even more momentum in its sophomore season, upping the addictive yet somehow relatable nastiness of its leads with fast-paced -- and possibly therapeutic -- hilarity.

Critic Reviews for Difficult People Season 2

It's all clever and funny, if you enjoy laughing at people who are thoroughly mean and selfish, which I do. They represent some of the darker sides of human nature, those petty, unpleasant feelings we're generally taught to hide.

It's so nice to be back with Billy and Julie again. Hulu's Difficult People... is a show that wears its unique but tricky concept on its sleeve... And it's so much fun to watch.

Difficult People ups its guest star game with its sophomore premiere, packing in appearances by John Mulaney, Tina Fey, and Sandra Bernhard... [Fey's] is a c-plot story that seemingly goes nowhere, but if you're a fan of 30 Rock, it's gratifying as hell.

Yes, the sinfully funny series that chronicles the wacky, devilish adventures of professional recapper Julie Kessler (Julie Klausner) and professional I'm-not-sure Billy Epstein (Billy Eichner) is back, baby! And better than ever!

There have been countless shows about the bond of friendship, but never one that so perfectly portrays the kind of connection you can have to the friend that loves the worst version of yourself.

What distinguishes Difficult People is Klausner and Eichner's fluent, acerbic approach to the nebulous substratum of pop culture that Susan Sontag might, with a bit of prodding, call twenty-first century camp.

I like Difficult People. Whenever I watch it, though, I'm always acutely aware of why I like it.

As with season 1, the show hinges on the friendship between Julie and Billy. Their schemes are hatched at the start of each episode and implode at the end, but at least they have each other.

Fast-paced and motormouthed as it is, Difficult People still finds ways to make a pair of despicable, difficult friends entirely relatable and pal-worthy, even when a few of its shots fall short of the bullseye.

I've just binge-watched three second-season episodes of Hulu's Difficult People and don't have a kind word to say about anyone. Well, except for Billy Epstein and Julie Kessler, who hold the title of the world's most hilarious egomaniacs.

Audience Reviews for Difficult People: Season 2

Patches is the best thing I have ever seen. 10 episodes is not nearly enough for these two funnies!

A better sophomore season that not only kicks up the laughs, but the wretchedness of the characters as well.

It's a mixed bag. Billy Eichner, Andrea Martin and James Urbaniak are hilarious, but Julie Klausner is practically unwatchable. I had to stop midway through this season because she just became unbearable. They really should dump her.

S2 was a letdown from s1 but there are still really good moments here and there.

The show of the summer...every episode is a hoot and a half. I hope this show goes on for many years.

"I'm starting to think Kirk Cameron was right." "About what?" "About the fact that you're too gay...." Few shows get me on trailers alone but this one did and its pretty much delivered ever since..

Utter crap, no redeeming qualities at all.

utter crap; made for queenie gay boys
