Season 1
Entourage

Critics Consensus

Entourage launches with an abundance of hedonistic spectacle and tinseltown satire, but neglects to establish why audiences should root for these boys from Queens.

Tv Season Info

The HBO series Entourage followed the misadventures of rising Hollywood star Vincent Chase (Adrian Grenier) and the childhood friends he keeps close to him. Eric Murphy (Kevin Connolly) is his manager, Johnny "Drama" Chase (Kevin Dillon) is his trusted bodyguard, and Turtle (Jerry Ferrara) is his often incompetent driver/gopher. Vincent's agent is the loudmouthed, overbearing Ari Gold (Jeremy Piven). The eight-episode debut season of the program finds Vincent weighing his options after becoming a breakthrough star because of his last film project. As Eric and Ari fight over the direction of Vincent's career, Drama tries to get an acting job on Vincent's newest movie, which is being made by a young director who does not't see eye-to-eye with Eric, even though Eric pushed Vincent to act in the project rather than take a million dollar payday to be in a probable blockbuster. Also, the guys consider attending a high school reunion, Eric gets involved with one of Ari's employees, and Vincent lets his newfound success bring him more luck with the ladies.

Critic Reviews for Entourage Season 1

All Critics (26) | Top Critics (19)

Those, like me, who are immune to the show's charms see it as a broadly satiric portrait of four callow jerks.

May 31, 2018 | Full Review…

The four principal characters are basically likable despite their base-level needs and instincts. They're kids in a candy store, inhaling all that Hollywood has to offer before their expiration dates run out.

May 31, 2018 | Full Review…

Gorgeous and slightly dense Vince and the longtime pals... can all be shallow, self-indulgent and sexist. But there's a pathos about these 20-somethings, individually and as a group, that's affecting.

May 31, 2018 | Full Review…

Entourage only partially realizes that it's about the glee of male exploitation, which is too bad... If the writers took another step back from their immature characters, the show's satirical edge might be sharper.

May 31, 2018 | Full Review…

Entourage avoids overtly ruffling industry feathers. Yet the clever dialogue and adroit ensemble cast somehow alchemize into an offbeat series that wipes the floor with this summer's other wan contenders.

Feb 18, 2020 | Full Review…

In that way the show is so far inside that you can practically see into its marrow - and yet Entourage works for the masses as a brilliantly caustic look at those who harbor delusions of entitlement.

Jan 26, 2018 | Full Review…

It's basically just a sitcom - but it has the advantage of being funny.

May 31, 2018 | Full Review…

Entourage is pure viewing pleasure, made even more so by the easy rapport among the actors.

May 31, 2018 | Rating: 4/5 | Full Review…

Entourage is a fun-spirited look at life most of us will never know.

May 31, 2018 | Rating: 7/10 | Full Review…

Celebrates the sort of crude sensibility found in beer commercials.

May 31, 2018 | Full Review…

The writing for the show is never lacking, and its tight cast of five is a perfect fit.

May 31, 2018 | Rating: 4/5 | Full Review…

The core is hollow.

Audience Reviews for Entourage: Season 1

Entourage is about a Hollywood Celebrity (Vincent chase) and his friends, making movies and chasing tails. These guys are shown living life that most of us dream off. This show is fun spirited, so if you are looking for drama then i would suggest keep looking. All the characters are intriguing, My favorite is Ari, Vincent's manager, who is a Jew with anger issues. If you enjoyed watching American pie then you are gonna love this show. Lots of famous celebrity's cameo are also seen. In one episode, Vincent fights with Eminem. Vincent's friend (Turtle) dates UFC star, Ronda Rousey for some time. In conclusion, This show is one big ass party.

Great concept and fun stories, plus a great cast except for Adrian Grenier. Has there been a recent bigger casting misfire? Vinnie is supposed to be a magnetic, charismatic leader. Nope. This role in this series... would have springboarded most young actors into Hollywood, with huge roles in major movies. Instead Grenier is C-list, going nowhere. The rest of Hollywood sees the lack of potential and presence that he displays here.

Negyedszer állok neki a sorozatnak. Eddig 5 percig sem bírtam ezt az idétlenkedést, most meg kifejezetten élvezem. Talán az is közrejátszik, hogy a 8. évaddal kezdtem és nem volt meg a felvezetés. Pörg?sek a dumák, ülnek a poénok, nincsenek túltolva a karakterek, a dekadens filmvilág ábrázolása szórakoztató, ügyesen maszkol ki a film minden olyan árnyoldalt, ami elronthatja könnyed szórakozást. Jöhet a második évad.
