Envious is a vehicle for Griselda Siciliani’s talents, but it strikes a tone that’s equal parts humor and humility. But the main character is so odious and smells so much like Limburger that I can't really enjoy it. Her cluelessness is comedic, yes, but ultimately her soullessness and mercenary qualities make her completely unsympathetic. I watch it like watching a car accident. The main character seems to be completely soulless. What could go wrong? I haven't reached the conclusion, and I guess she will at some point evolve, but somehow it seems like she will only grow a soul by realizing that her choices were wrong selfishly. Not that they were wrong because she herself is so lacking in decency and so narrow. I also don't understand why anyone in their right mind would choose Vicky over Mei . . . I sure wouldn't.
