It’s anxiety-ridden and frustrating, but that’s only because it’s evoking a visceral response. Go to Full Review

One of the best Australian dramas of the decade so far, Fake is an unflinching examination of deception’s cruel grip -- whether it’s wielded by an imposter or delivered through our own flawed self-esteem. Go to Full Review

There’s a degree of pathos in the way the story eventually unravels and some facts are laid bare, but one message you might take from it is “turn your bloody phone off”. Go to Full Review
James Croot The Post NZ 12/13/2024
This does feel like an antipodean version of the Joanne Froggatt-Ioan Gruffudd-starring Liar. But whereas that BBC psychological thriller wasn’t exactly subtle in its manipulation and moustache-twirling villainy, this is far more insidious and nuanced. Go to Full Review

This gripping, moody, artfully constructed story is as much an exploration of why Birdie kept going out with an obvious liar as it is a display of the unsettling dynamics at play between the couple. Go to Full Review

Alain E @AlainE Jan 15 Starting with the title we know what is going on. Nonetheless, the delivery is excellent and we are watching expecting that this deal, for sure, is going to close. Very good casting. I am not revealing anything if I say that the guy is a textbook psychopath. Unable to feel compassion, guilt or sympathy. See more Magda C @RT53209612 Jun 15 Great cast but no subtlety about anything. Just like watching a painful car wreck. See more Wendy N @RT11713462 Jun 8 To date I’ve watched the first two Episodes of Fake on Ch 10 Free to Air TV. The Ads drive me nuts, however it’s a positive reflection on the quality of the show that I’m still watching! Keddie is well-cast without overplaying her role as the vulnerable Birdie, while Wenham is deliciously, perilously cool & careless in his lead character. The tension created is all but unbearable - As in life, the battle between instinct & longing is an uncomfortable one, even from a safe distance! The theme is an important one: those looking for love are reminded that trust is a process, regardless of what ‘well meaning’ others may suggest…….Hanging on for the ride. Great Aussie drama👌 See more Julia A @RT74479534 Jun 4 I’m sorry but I just can’t see the appeal in this series. I watched the first episode but just couldn’t be bothered to continue. If the actor who plays Joe had been youngish, or even slightly attractive, or had a bit of life in him (but obviously preferably all three!), I would have found it so much more engaging and believable. For me, he needed to be someone I could imagine falling for myself! I don’t know who would choose to cast this actor in this particular role. See more Ree B @RT25866426 Jun 1 Loved it! But I love anything Asher Keddie is in❤️ Great storyline. Can't believe any man would do this to a woman!! See more Seymour B @RT41222760 May 26 I’m biased because I just cannot warm to Asher Keddie. Something about her makes me feel off. Love David Wenham in every work he does but the female character in this show turns me off it completely. See more Read all reviews
