The romantic comedy "Faking It" uses a liberal Texas community and a high-school-age cast to present a commentary on sexual orientation, tolerance and acceptance among young people today. Karma and Amy are inseparable friends who rely on their bond for comfort and support. In fact, they are so close that, after numerous failed attempts to click with the popular crowd, they are outed as lesbians. It's a big mistake that needs to be corrected -- unless it has advantages! For Karma and Amy, being thought of as lovers means instant celebrity among their peers, and there is no way the ruse can end now. "American Idol" fans may recognize Katie Stevens, who plays Karma. Stevens was a ninth-season finalist on the singing competition.

05/19/2020 I know it's a cliche to fall in love with your best friend but I enjoyed this show very much. The drama has always been there I mean these are teenagers so what else do you expect? But they didn't make it overly dramatic that you can't help but roll your eyes. Probably what's different about this is that the reason why they (Karma & Amy) pretended to be a couple so Karma could get the attention of the guy she's eyeing for. I mean how twisted is that? And Amy didn't know she's in love with Karma (or just plain lesbian in general) until they "fake kissed" Another plus in this show how diverse the characters are. Like Liam (a typical jock) is best friends with an "alpha gay" (if there's a term). Then Amy's step sister is a hermaphrodite. They even have transman (transgender) who fell in love with a gay guy. The list just goes on. In summary, this show didn't just deal with high school drama but it also dealt with friendship, love, loyalty, and diversity without exaggeration. The directing and screenplay is good. The cinematography is good. Finally, the score is good as well.
