Forbidden love has never looked so unappealing; you might find yourself praying for either something to actually happen, or for it to end. Go to Full Review

"It comes in with a sense of admiration for the way that people live their lives rather than trying to make a comment about how they do their work." Go to Full Review

Alas, this drama from Adolescence writer Jack Thorne isn’t sexy or thrilling – or even very dramatic. It features good performances from its likeable lead actors, but their romantic relationship is desperately unconvincing. Go to Full Review

The first episode sets the tone for the rest: thoughtful, warm, witty, complex and chock-full of the sort of intimate one-to-one conversations in which Thorne specialises. Go to Full Review

Falling will be too earnest and slow-moving for some, but it feels almost bold for a religion-based love story to be drawn out so respectfully. The sensitivity and ambition is there; what’s missing is the fire. Go to Full Review

Pip M @sweaterpep Sep 12, 2026 The two leads are tender, complex and pure-hearted. Was not expecting to be so thoroughly pulled into this beautiful story - their chemistry had me bingeing this series in one day! See more Barbara D @Greenbananas Aug 19, 2026 Not a good match of leading stars. Dreadful in fact no chemistry at all and Keeley looks way older than the priest. See more Aidan M @RT76796384 Jun 8, 2026 A spellbinding triumph-ignore the critics and watch this! Falling is easily one of the most powerful, tender, and deeply moving dramas to hit British television in years! It is a masterclass in slow-burn storytelling. The chemistry between Keeley Hawes and Paapa Essiedu is good. Their performances are nuanced, raw, and utterly captivating. It is incredibly refreshing to see such a beautifully written, complex romance featuring a diversel lead couple on television. Channel 4 deserves massive praise for their modern casting choice. Some critics completely missed the mark with their low ratings, but do not let them deter you. Jack Thorne's script tackles faith, love, and complex human emotions with immense restraint and maturity. I was so gripped that I watched I binged it on catch-up, and am already rewatching it. An absolute triumph for Channel 4. Do not miss it! See more M D P @RT11302800 May 26, 2026 Is it just me or is this the most stupid premise for a series in years? See more Read all reviews
