Critics Consensus

Flat, flimsy, and forgettable, Fate: The Winx Saga is a fantastical flop that fails to capture the magic of its source material.

Yet another exploration of a magical world with young adults training to hone their magical skills to make their way in their world as well as deal with foreboding dark threats. It took a few episodes, but I came to be interested in the characters and their stories. I'll watch another season if/when it comes out.

Like... It was bad, really bad. Nothing else to report. Please do not waste your time.

Too woke to watch. Could not get past the first episode of PC dialog permutating the show. "... it is only a matter of time before we descend into a Lord of the Flies situation". "Lady of the flies" dad retorts "Don't be sexist sweetie".

Acting was spotty but not without some good performances, and the visuals can be arresting. Winx is most heavily dragged down by its script and poor plot setup to the point where only franchise fans may understand what is going on.

I really enjoyed this show. I was sad when it was only 6 episodes. I have seen the bad reviews and read that it does not follow the cartoon version. However this show was aimed at a much older audience than the original cartoon version. Based on that I think the writers took some creative license to make it more believable and enjoyable. I completely enjoyed the characters. I think anyone saying that they where lacking depth needs to take into consideration the 6 episode timeline. I think given that scope that the characters did indeed tell their story. You want more depth you need a slower timeline and more episodes which of course I would love to see!

Wow, this show was terrible. Weak acting, absolutely zero chemistry between all the actors, numerous plot holes, unlikeable characters, and an unbearably cringe script. Aside from tainting everyone's fond childhood memories of watching the original Winx show, along with whitewashing characters, Fate: The Winx Saga by itself is just simply a bad show. Throughout the entire show I was unsure whether the viewer was meant to actually like the main character, Bloom. She was constantly selfish and stupid and all of her successes felt undeserved because of it. The rest of the girls, especially Aisha, were sidelined or just used as props for whatever Bloom was doing at the moment. The pacing of the show was terrible as well, sometimes moving too slow and rushing through the few parts that were actually interesting. The only reason this show was paid any attention to was because of the Winx named attached to it. The CGI was clunky at bits, but there was nothing too bad (Unlike the costume design. Would anyone care to explain why the 16-year-olds-played-by-adults were dressed like they stepped out of a Sears catalog?) Anyways, Netflix, why did you renew this?

If you liked the animated show as a kid, DO NOT watch this series. They turned a cute, colorful story of friendship into a boring show where the main characters seem to barely stand each other. It is uselessly dark and looks like every other netflix series (I'm looking at you, Riverdale and Sabrina). Oh, and the costumes are terrible, which is a shame considering the 00s are making a big comeback, and they had a chance to make it the trendiest show of the year.

Taking all of the worst tropes from Riverdale and Harry Potter and rolling them up into a mess of a series. The idea and premise is fairly solid (if convoluted and unexplained) which is the worst part about this, it had so much potential that it ruined focusing more on the teen drama and typical YA romanic than the actual stakes of the show. The cast are all doing a pretty solid job, but they couldn't save the pretty dire script. At least the visiual effects are good, although we got a horrible Michael Bay camera spin or two which ruined any emotion in the scene. The second season will probably get watched for the same reason as I watch Riverdale, to laugh at the poor quality and inconsistencies.

Its everything anyone could ever hate about YA. Coming from a YA. Really wanted the show to be great since I loved winx club growing up, but was tragically let down. This is a big flop for Netflix, please don't give us a second season, we wish you could take back the first.
