The comic/folk duo Riki Lindhome and Kate Micucci hit prime time with their act in this scripted series for IFC. It follows hard-working underdogs trying to make their mark in comedy while muddling through messy dating scenarios, and doing so by performing one satirical (and often quite saucy) song after another. Nothing stops the ukulele- and guitar-wielding twosome from singing about life's unspoken truths, despite it leaving them detached from their peers. The series is titled after Lindhome and Micucci's band name, inspired by "two famous rock 'n' roll second bananas," Art Garfunkel and John Oates.

Garfunkel And Oates can't decide in which direction to go-naughty or nice-so it spends most of its time vacillating wildly between the two in hopes that there are enough good moments to sustain it. Go to Full Review

The point is really the smart, deadpan jokes and the surprisingly elaborate and usually smutty songs. Go to Full Review

Even if musicals aren't your thing, don't worry; their songs only make an appearance or two throughout each half-hour episode, although you'll undeniably be wishing there were more. Go to Full Review

07/25/2021 Wish it hadn't been cancelled this show is awesome. See more miles s @Miles.C 08/16/2016 Fun show! If you are a fan of Flight of the Concords there is a good chance you will enjoy this. The main characters are quirky and likable. The jokes land and the songs are good. See more 05/24/2015 Lame Flight of the Conchords ripoff. I really wanted to like this, but it's just so unoriginal, and the music is pretty mediocre. See more 04/25/2015 8 episodes and they didn't play the loophole. What the hell? See more 04/09/2015 While one could make a case that Garfunkel and Oates' show format is fairly derivative of Flight of the Conchords, I think very few people would argue that that's a bad thing. The female comedy-folk duo have made a highly enjoyable series that fits snugly in IFC's oeuvre. Dead-pan humor, spot-on music biz satire, endearing spirit, and songs that are both hilarious and well-crafted all makes Garfunkel and Oates a real treat-and-a-half. See more 04/06/2015 Delightfully deadpan with fantastic songs about handjobs, facebook friends we don't remember and how easy it is to get a weed card in California. See more Read all reviews
