What's truly amazing is how compelling this is without any dialog--the art, animation, and music score are all phenomenal. It's a must watch and one of my favorite animated series.

    Excellent show having meaningful messages

I'll be frank, I dropped somewhere closer to the end of the first season as I simply didn't see a reason to keep watching it. The plotline is non-sensical and utterly fails in every way if you are looking for logic or realism. The episodes are disjointed and lack any semblance of final goal or reasoning for why certain events even happen. Physics in the show are non-existent, characters oftentimes show strength 100 times greater than they should have, or survive falls that clearly should have killed them, destroying even the most rugged suspension of disbelief one might have. On top of that, even the art style and animation are inconsistent, with character sizes constantly varying and not being kept in sync between different perspectives, further breaking the feel of it being a real living world. In short, ridiculous premise, disjointed illogical and quite frankly pointless "adventures", and fundamentally broken and unrealistic world portrayal that leaves one to question why this shows exists in the first place and what it was trying to convey, aside from the centermost plot of primal human bonding with a dinosaur. If that is all you want from a show and enough reasoning to invest time into watching it - go ahead. Otherwise it is probably best to steer clear of this niche piece of media, it caters only to a specific group of dino and novel medium enthusiasts.

Animation mastermind Genndy Tartakovsky gives us his most mature and intense project to date with Primal, a series that really seeks to break the norm with television animation. Set in a prehistoric world (one that's as anachronistic as The Flintstones, but a whole lot scarier!), Primal lives up to its name by possessing a real unfiltered sense for survivalism. The show's pair of unlikely compatriots (a neanderthal and mini-T-Rex) battle across an unforgiving terrain, leaving plenty of gore in their wake (the show might actually eclipse Superjail! for being the most violent Adult Swim original). It's a raw and vivid experience, but what really makes Primal achieve in its ambitions is that it features literally no dialogue! The show tells an affective storyline, letting images and actions explain character motivations, and it's really unlike anything else on TV in that regard. With Samurai Jack finally concluded, Genndy Tartakovsky still isn't slowing down in delivering highly innovative adult-animation, and this series has the potential to be his best project yet!

amazing and one of my favorite animated, no scratch that ONE OF MY FAVORITE SHOWS EVER

A masterpiece of art, simple, deep graphics, far from words, he successfully communicates his ideas in the form of animated pictures with selected musical effects. In this work, shouting in all its meanings is presented, crying out of fear, pain, forgetfulness, forgiveness, predation, etc., along with image and music. It's a masterpiece to say the least

The first season of Primal was absolutely mad! You learn about the characters purely through their actions, their emotions, and their traumas. Dialogue is practically nonexistent aside from some grunts and roars. But the music, the sound effects, and the art is incredible. Exactly what you'd expect from the guy that made Samurai Jack.

This is a cartoon in a totally new level, a fine piece of art from Genndy Tartakovsky.
