Kat D @Kat_D Jun 2 This had been a five star show up into the final season. The actors remained fantastic but the writing really dropped here. The final episode came across as a filler episode rather than a finale, with the characters having an 'epiphany' out of nowhere at the end. It beggars belief that the idea made it out of the writers room without anyone flagging it as a terrible idea. I don't want to overstate it but it kind of ruins the show to the point where I hesitate to recommend it to new viewers now and I always have to warn them to be prepared for letdown, especially if they end up enjoying the rest of the series as much as I did. But after season 4 the writing had a noticeable decline, b season 5 it's barely watchable. Just one cliché after the other, there's always a set up, a huge problem mostly pertaining to money, the ghosts do their shenanigans, someone royally iffs up, then they're back to square one. It's exhausting even when I let it play in the background, not to mention the Amazon product placement. I really want to give it a better rating. But after the first few seasons, those repeated storylines get old, very old! Just watch the UK version or the first 3 season of the US version, but not season 5. It's brutal!! Each season is hilarious (though it takes a few episodes in Season 1 for the necessary, underlying emotional connection to form) and clever and poignant. Brilliantly acted by the cast, and you can feel their chemistry as a group. Truly top-notch.
