Feb 08, 2023I watched all four seasons because I love Billy Bob Thorton. He is not enough though to make this a good show. The first season was good. It was downhill after that. Very little courtroom drama and, while it tries to be smart, it's not. Since this is a Season 4 review, I'll stick with that one. The only reason I can explain the high reviews -- audience, not critics; we all know why critic scores are always so high on this site and it's not because they are smarter than the rest of us - the only reason for the high S4 score has to be people are finally glad its over.

Sep 15, 2022Awesome! Enjoying the first two seasons immensely. This is what great tv is supposed to be.

Jul 09, 2022Season 4 gave us the finale that Goliath richly deserved. Billy Bob Thorton remained at the top of his game. It was Nina Arianda's performance that was a force of nature. Have many streamers topped the ensemble acting this show gave us?

May 26, 2022A very strong season that touches 1 of the most disturbing issues in USA these days. Billy plays great, the plot is not as strong as in the previous seasons but still done well. Major seatback is the ending- cheesy AF, so sweet my main artery got clogged by huge lumps of sugar when everyone & their sister who had problems with Billy started showing up & making amends, just plain stupid

Feb 23, 2022Closer to a regular lawyer show than seasons two and three were. I liked it. I didn't like the trippy/dream stuff. But I didn't really like those in season three either. Good finish to a great show.

Feb 16, 2022Watched enough just to comment. Don't waste your time. It's a cringefest. There's nothing smart about this crap. Patty is great. Billy and everyone else is a hilarious parody of what hollywood thinks lawyers and pharmaceutical companies are.

Jan 18, 2022Solid conclusion to the series that wraps up much of the character arcs with some nice twists. Billy Bob Thornton remains superb as Billy McBride, whose intelligence and direct manner plays perfectly in and out of the courtroom, and you believe he is both a brilliant lawyer and a knockout drunk. He gets great support from the rest of the cast, with the nice addition of J.K.Simmons as the billionaire drug manufacturer a fantastic villain (along with delivering a surprisingly enjoyable song & dance number). Behind the camera, the show runners deliver a solid legal drama with some nice twists, though the more far out sequences still don't work (McBride's dreams are a bit out there still). When in the courtroom, it is top notch, with superb writing & acting. Overall, a solid watch for legal drama fans.

Nov 11, 2021This season is brilliant. It's a little out there / trippy at times and some might not like the extensive diversions contained in each episode instead of getting into the thick of the plot in each episode straight away. But the flashbacks reveal Billy's state of mind, his complicated relationships with his daughter and his father, and the impact of the gunshot wound on his mental psyche. And the animated scenes like the school room children questioning their teacher about how drugs come to market are a little out there but interesting and most of all make this season absolutely unique and different vs the plethora of options available in Amazon/Netflixland. Loved Jena Malone's acting as Sam - so impressive for an actress in her biggest role and J K Simmons' role as badass George Zax reminds us of another of his badass roles, Terry Fletcher in Whiplash (2002) - both outstanding. William Hurt shows up again for a small role as Billy's former partner, William Cooperman and plays his reclusive, reluctant role beautifully. Three cheers to Geoffrey Arend for his fine performance as Griffin Petock, defense lawyer for the Zax's. Nina Ariande is just brilliant as in past seasons. I was constantly bothered by Billy McBrides use of his apartment in Chinatown and his willingness to conduct his business in the open with all to see including Zax founder, Arthur. It doesn't add up to the role played by Billy Bob Thornton, the whipsaw sharp CA lawyer. But otherwise, BBT's role as Billy McBride is so convincing as to make one believe he as born into the role.

Nov 07, 2021Go along for the ride. It is highly stylized so some may not like this. It pays homage to movies such as High Noon, To Catch a Thief (scene by scene), and Vertigo. I didn't like it at first because I love those movies but it ended up visually very fun and different. The setting and character add a touch of noir plus surreal dream sequences add a new element to this season. The characters/actors are great. I'll watch again... especially the last episode!
