When police officer Nikolai investigates a local man's apparent suicide in his hometown, he plants evidence in order to protect his brother, an undistinguished local cop, from being implicated in the crime. Nikolai's partner, however, suspects foul play, trapping Nikolai in a dangerous game of cat-and-mouse while on duty. As he crosses over to the dark side by deceiving his partner things quickly spin out of control for Nikolai as the conspiracy surrounding the fake suicide spreads through the town and across Sweden.

Sharon L @RT97371166 04/04/2021 good story and cast, great leading actors See more 11/16/2020 Borderliner episodes were my entire viewing entertainment for approximately four consecutive nights. I really looked forward to the next episode. I avoided knowing how many episodes were in the season. So I would be surprised when it ended. There were a couple times when I thought I was watching the last episode and I was wrong. I love that. There are no characters to care about in the series. Also, the actress who played the female detective should get more major roles .The acting generally is very good in this series, as is the writing. Personally, I am glad that I didn't develop a vested interest in any of the characters, (though the child actors were good and adorable).I like that the plot was presented almost like a police case document. These were the people involved, and this is what happened. Lastly, I liked this series so much because while there were family dynamics involved. There were none of the prop subplots and characters that current series writers seem to think are necessary inclusions in their series. I refer in particular to the teenage, recalcitrant, "troubled", wayward, and often annoying daughter of one of the detectives in a series. That character is almost universal in series currently. I find it to be not only lazy writing, but almost misogynisticin its treatment of young women, as I am the father of two women. Rarely is there a male character of that type included in those types of plots. See more 07/01/2019 I've finished the first four episodes of this series. So far, it's exceeding my expectations. I've tried foreign/captioned dramas like this before, and I've found that keeping track of the names & people is more difficult when you don't speak the language. However, despite a plot containing more than a dozen characters, I'm able to keep track of them all. The show has the feel of other Scandanavian dramas I've seen: emotionally-muted, cerebral and brooding. Unlike some of those other dramas, this one has remained tense and efficient - rather than drifting with sub-plots, or lots of scenes which make you wonder why the producer wanted to include them. The characters are all believable, but perhaps due to this show coming from a culture different from mine, they're all slightly quirky in interesting ways. As I said, I've only seen half of the first season, so even if this starts going south, I'm hooked at this point. See more 02/20/2019 Great acting, but a very confusing plot that climaxes with no real ending. Very disappointing! See more 11/18/2018 Starts promising but loses the plot along the way. The initial crime/mystery is not even solved by the end of the series and at that stage you dont even care. Its like the scriptwriters ran out of ideas. Nicely done and acted, just a pity about the plot. Maybe they'll do better in season 2, it it gets made. See more Read all reviews
