A group of thieves, led by professional thief Mickey O'Neil, plans one of the biggest, most-elaborate heists in history -- simultaneous robberies of three jewelry stores on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, during the week of the Oscars, that might bring them millions of dollars. A dogged detective, however, could throw a wrench in their plans. Amy Sykes, a lead detective for the LAPD, leads the task force investigating a string of thefts committed by the crew. She is tasked with figuring out not just who is in charge of the group but also what larger job they are leading up to.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

While Heist has its witty moments, it mostly comes across as a poor copy of Ocean's Eleven and Pulp Fiction.

Nor do the characters really pop, with more bickering than actual dialogue. Go to Full Review

Although we are meant to regard its dishonest protagonists as the epitome of contemporary cool, they come off as self-satisfied and pretentious. Go to Full Review

The conspirators on "Heist" share the smug insouciance of the criminals in "Ocean's Eleven" and "Mr. & Mrs. Smith," and the story lines and characters are layered and more intricate than in most detective series. Go to Full Review

It's a clumsy copy of "Pulp Fiction" made clumsier as the show both tries to build toward a seasonlong caper while completing weekly stories. Go to Full Review

Conceptually, Heist owes much to Ocean's Eleven. However, the team assembled is way downscale in looks and smarts from the gang that knocked over Las Vegas on the big screen. Go to Full Review

Heist strains to translate an action movie into a series. What's brisk and fun on the big screen turns labored and far-fetched on the small one. Go to Full Review
